Monsanto's North America Row Crops Technology Development and Agronomy organization is looking for a DEKALB Agronomist for the Brandon, MB area. This is a long-term contract position (12-14 months). Key Business Accountabilities:Conduct field scale market development trials for commercial seed productsTechnical support and training with strategic retail partners and DEKALB Territory ManagersProvide technical information with seed, trait, and chemistry productsSupport weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed and trait productsBuild profile as technical expert in territoryCompliant with Monsanto safety, driving policies, and manage summer studentsScope of the Job:Execute field scale testing programsPrograms include market development of commercial seed products (i.e. DEKALB MD trials)Execute trial protocols and manage both agronomist and retail MD trial programWork with retails/cooperators to seed trials, collect required data, maintain trials as needed, and harvest trialsData management and timely submission of trial resultsWork with marketing to categorize and validate key product features and benefitsTechnical support and training for strategic retail partners and DEKALB Territory ManagersWork with DEKALB Territory Managers to achieve local business objectives through technical support and training.  Retail support provided strategically based on business prioritiesProvide technical information to support and position DEKALB seed and trait productsIn-field and classroom agronomic training for key retails and Territory Managers and presentations at key retail and grower toursSupport Territory Managers with in-field diagnostic service for seed product performance inquires requiring technical analysisProvide technical information with seed, trait and chemistry productsCommunicate agronomic position of seed products, benefits of trait products and benefits and uses of chemistry productsEnsure new technologies have proper profile with key growers and retailUnderstand technical position of Monsanto products compared to competitorsSupport weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed and trait productsCommunicate position of weed management strategy and other stewardship initiativesProvide technical support and training for weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives as neededBuild profile as technical expert in territoryBuild presence with key growers, retails, and 3rd party consultantsDevelop content for Growing Knowledge publication as well as external technical publicationsParticipate in industry events and organizations where appropriateCreate awareness with media as a technical expert for canola, corn, and soybean productionCompliant with Monsanto safety, driving policies and manage summer studentsComplete safety and driving training as requiredReport injuries and accidents as requiredCoordinate and participate in required safety meetingsSupport safety initiatives at TD sites and locationsRecruit, hire, and manage summer studentsQualifications:Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in agricultural science is requiredKnowledgeable in Canadian canola, corn, and soybean production practicesExcellent relationship building skillsExcellent organization, time management skills, and team interactive skillsAble to interpret and communicate research information for business impact
